If you’ve never heard of John “Calico Jack” Rackham, he was an English pirate captain operating in the Bahamas during the early 18th century. Once gaining the captaincy Rackham made a career of plundering small vessels close to shore. He and his crew captured the “Kingston”, a small Jamaican vessel, and made it their flagship. They made several conquests in the West Indies, taking a couple of large ships off of Bermuda. Active towards the end of the era known as the golden age of piracy (from 1717–1720) Rackham is most remembered for two things; the design of his Jolly Roger flag, a skull with crossed swords, which contributed to the popularization of the design, and for having two female crew members (Mary Read and his lover Anne Bonny) unusual at that time. He was eventually captured by pirate hunter Jonathan Barnet in November 1720, before being hung in December of the same year in Spanish Town, Jamaica.

It’s surreal and wonderfully relaxing being out on a pirate ship on the Caribbean Sea. You can swim, suntan, dance or just kick back while creating photo moments, pirate style on the Calico Sailing and Undersea Tour. Not to mention the you’ll learn a lot about our marine life while having lots of fun. Sail into the afternoon sun as it sinks slowly to the horizon while toasting to the sunset. It’s the perfect way to end a lovely day and begin a romantic evening. Return transport is provided and sunset dinner cruises and all inclusive cruises are also available.
