There is so much to see, do and taste in Jamaica and The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has every intention of letting locals know exactly what those things are. On Tuesday evening at the lovely Wyndham Hotel in New Kingston the JTB kicked off the start of the popular Experience Jamaica campaign to expose Jamaicans to the country’s tourism product and encourage them to get out and enjoy all that Jamaica has to offer.
A collaborative effort of the Tourism Ministry, the JTB and the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association. Experience Jamaica was first introduced in 2009, and uses a combination of customer education and discounts to increase local interest in and use of tourism facilities such as attractions, accommodations, transport and shopping. Participating companies can be found in all the island’s major resort locations such as Negril, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio, The South Coast and even Kingston.
Tuesday’s launch saw Jamaicans out in large numbers perusing over 50 booths, discovering discounts, wining prizes offered by participating tourism companies and enjoying the entertainment which included performances by dancers, poets and musicians from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts. Some participating companies include Dolphin Cove, Kool Runnings Adventure Park, Mystic Mountain Round Hill Hotel, Tensing Pen Resort, Couples Resort, Geejam Hotel, Spanish Court Hotel, RIU Resorts, Iberostar Hotel and hedonism Resorts (to name a few).
