If you’re unfamiliar with the term; “Jerk” is a style of cooking native to Jamaica in which meats are dry-rubbed with a very hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice. Jerked food is a must-have for visitors and locals alike and if you haven’t had it yet you don’t know what you’re missing! Jerk is both a marinade and a preparation technique. In its most authentic form, fresh poultry or pork meat is massaged with a concentrated spice rub infused with allspice (pimento), cinnamon, peppers, onion, thyme and garlic hours before cooking. After marinating, the meat is placed on raised platforms of pimento wood over hot coals to slowly roast for hours. Dunn’s River Falls in Ocho Rios is one of Jamaica’s most celebrated national treasures. It is hands down the island’s most frequented waterfall and one of most popular attractions in the Caribbean. Jamaica’s Reggae Marathon & Half Marathon has seen participants from over 21 countries flying in just for a piece of the action. Each year marathoners, sports enthusiasts and even beginners, converge in Negril, Jamaica’s capital of casual, for a fun event characterized by good vibes and lots of Reggae Music. This year the event is set for December 3-5. After reading about Reggae Marathon Beverley Allen posted this:

“They stole my idea, just this week I thought “what would it be like to hike the entire circumfrence of the island?” Would be more than cool and is now on my list of 101 things to do!”
