Meetings & Incentives: Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference 2011

The 2011 Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference (CHTIC) will be the fifteenth year of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association and the Caribbean Tourism Organization managing the region’s most successful and longest-standing tourism investment event and they anticipate a very well attended and supported conference. Set for May 10th-12th, 2011 at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites Hotel, the conference is part of the effort to continue to make the Caribbean and in particular Jamaica, the global destination of choice.

Building on the momentum achieved in recent years with a growing interest in Caribbean tourism development, CHTIC is staged by two not-for-profit organizations – CHTA and the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). CHTA represents the regional hotel and tourism associations and CTO is the public sector tourism body which represents the countries of the region. All funds from the conference are being reinvested in the region for the benefit of the Caribbean tourism industry.

Event Update: Caribbean Marketplace 2011

Jamaica successfully outshined its last hosting of the largest regional tourism trade show, Caribbean Marketplace in 2005 when the island again hosted the 2011 installment of the event last week (January 16-18) at the newly constructed Montego Bay Convention Centre.

In addition to the announcement of a 14% hike in January visitors to the island and showcasing Jamaica’s musical genius with a number of performances from top entertainers on its opening and closing nights, Caribbean Marketplace saw attendance from up to 1400 candidates from 30 countries and a host of exciting booths, prizes and giveaways. News & Updates: Caribbean Meeting and Incentive Travel Exchange in Jamaica proves a success

The Inaugural Caribbean Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange (CMITE) ended on a high note in Jamaica on Sunday, October 10, at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall. The invitation-only, appointment-based event, organized by Questex Media Group LLC in collaboration with the Society of Incentive Travel Executives (Site), served to bridge 50 Caribbean suppliers with 50 top meeting and incentive buyers from North America and China.

“With Jamaica serving as host for the inaugural Caribbean Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange, this was an ideal opportunity for A-list buyers who book the Caribbean to witness the destination’s growing tourism product and our ability to cater to the needs of groups of all sizes,” said Marcia Bullock-Jobson, the Jamaica Tourist Board’s Regional Director, Groups & Conventions. “An event of this nature also helps to position the entire Caribbean region as the epicenter for meetings and incentives groups.”

Many participating buyers were impressed with the format of CMITE, which enabled them to explore the destination’s meeting facilities, especially in light of the anticipated opening of the Montego Bay Convention Centre. The event allowed buyers to schedule daily one-to-one appointments with suppliers, as well as participate in optional site visits to Jamaica’s hotel and resort facilities. Suppliers included hotels, resorts, spas, destinations, tour operators, destination management companies and cruise lines from the entire Caribbean.

Jamaica to host Caribbean Meetings and Incentive Travel Exchange

This week, from October 7–10, 2010 Jamaica will host the first annual Caribbean Incentive Travel Exchange (CMITE) at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall, in St. James. The invitation-only, appointment-based event is organized by Questex Media Group LLC in collaboration with the Society of Incentive Travel Executives (Site) and will serve as a platform for 50 Caribbean suppliers to interact with 50 top meeting and incentive buyers from North America.

The format of CMITE will allow pre-qualified, high-volume meeting and incentive travel buyers focused on booking the Caribbean to schedule daily one-to-one appointments with suppliers, as well as participate in optional site visits of Jamaica’s hotel and resort facilities. Suppliers comprise hotels and resorts, spas, destinations, tour operators, destination management companies and cruise lines from throughout the Caribbean.
